ASEA Yacht Design Pty Ltd (AYD) established in 1998 (formally
Naval Architects
Australia) is a small professional design company that offers
a wide scope of design and consulting services to the pleasure and commercial
ship & boat building industry, private customers and fellow architects.
From conceptual and preliminary design and analysis stages of general
arrangement, weight estimate, hull lines development, stability, structure and
resistance through to the final design stages of detailed construction,
classification, and survey drawings, CNC cutting data, stability incline test
and report, sea trails and operating manuals.
Situated on the Gold Coast Australia which is host to the
Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and is one of Australia’s main boating
cities, AYD reach of clientele extends beyond its home waters to neighbouring
countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, P.R China, Taiwan,
and Sth Korea and even further abroad into Europe and USA.
Director Tim Withrington, a graduate from the ‘Australian Maritime
College’ with a engineering degree in naval architecture, heads up the
company’s everyday design and engineering services operations. Tim is also a
certified boat builder with over twenty years experience, an IMCI CE and NMMA
US Inspector for recreational vessels under 24m, and a member of the Royal Institute of Naval
Architects (RINA). Tim's aim is to provide state of the art, innovative and
practical solutions to clientele with dialogue and personal service being the
key parts of the process.
Associate Steve Jones, a highly experienced renowned yacht
carpenter and cabinet maker oversees the interior fit out design stages of
AYD’s designs and refits. Steve’s knowledge in all aspects pertaining to the
latest materials and technology for fabrication and implementation of the
interior design furnishings is paramount to AYD’s design and refit services.
The design office is fully equipped with up-to-date computer
hardware and software, capable to handle any size project. In the near future
AYD is to implement a quality assurance management system in accordance with
AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 for Ship Design, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Services.
